From Vlarindara on Torn:
Kay..so I ran across this image earlier last month..and figured I could maybe show the sizes and stuff of different wolves.. ^__^; Since it's kinda a realistic rp..I figured maybe it could help some people who are interested in creating a character to have a visual representation of their wolf breed compared to others? That.. and some other info that I've amassed throughout my wolf rp career..eheh.
Some general wolf sizes/info and things.. :3 Taken from Different wiki articles as well as some research articles and the like.... I can compile links later... but for now.. just kind of listing stuff!
Pelt colors: The colors naturally seen in the wild range anywhere from white to black with all manners of browns, reds, greys and even the occasional yellow intermixed. (Link: i124.photobucket.com/albums/p3/Ixelja/furchart.png ) shows some of the different pelt colors one might see in the wild. Generally the pelt color 'conforms' to 'breed' standards of the wolfs species or subspecies.. I.E..Arctic wolves are generally white or light colored.. Red are usually a reddish color..
A wolfs pelt changes in the winter to the summer.. the same wolf could look COMPLETELY different in the winter.. than they would in the summer..For example.. a wolf could be darker greys and browns in the summer, but a lighter grey almost white in the winter. They also grey or lighten in color with age. Generally the color of a wolfs pelt denotes where they're from, or their lineage.. but sometimes it's possible to see a pure white wolf not in an arctic climate, or a pure black one in Antarctica...
Eye Colors: The eye color of a wolf has no basis in their breed.. and range from a variety of natural colors..with yellows, oranges and lighter orange-browns being the most common. They then range from darker browns to light greys and into the greens and blues on the most rare end of the spectrum. (Keep in mind if a wolf has blue eyes..it usually means that they may be deaf in those ears. Blue eyes are usually *NOT* seen in the wild...)
Baby wolves will have blue eyes that will darken into their 'adult' eye color as they age.

Sizes: In general.. wolves can be classified into three different sizes: Small, Medium and Large.
Small wolves range anywhere from 25-28 inches at the shoulder, weigh 50 - 80ish pounds and are about four and a half to five feet long.
Medium wolves are mostly 29 to 32 inches tall, weigh about 80 to 110 pounds and are from five to five and a half feet long.
Large wolves are the massive 'variety' weighing anywhere from 110 to 150 pounds (Though wolves weighing 175 pounds have been recorded in the wild...) they can be anywhere from 33 inches to 36 inches tall and are about five and a half to six feet or so long.
A size chart of some different subclasses of grey wolves can be seen...here: browse.deviantart.com/?qh=§ion=&global=1&q=wolf+comic#/d1urumg Used *WITH* permision of the original artist. :3 If you don't see your wolf 'visually' represented on there.. look at the second line of letters - they have also put in similar size/proportions of wolves to the one they drew!
^-^:;; I hope my OCD'ness about wolves helps a little.. :3 and that I don't upset people by suggesting these! Hehe..
